It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Monica Piersall of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Manchester, Iowa, who passed away on April 26, 2024, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Joseph Brunkhorst and Mae Brunkhorst; her siblings, Dr. John Brunkhorst and Mary Jo McFadden; her parents-in-law, Laura and Dale Piersall; her siblings-in-law, Barbara Piersall, Don Maas, John McFadden and Dr. John Goetschel; and her nieces and nephews, Pam Morales, Thomas McFadden, Chris Goetschel, Patty Kay Hertog, Geoff Brunkhorst, Patricia Brockman and Jennifer Brunkhorst.

She is survived by : her children, Matthew Piersall (Janey Jill) of Cedar Rapids, Valerie Herring (Michael) of Golden Valley and John Piersall (Honor) of New York; her grandchildren, Mattie, Elaine Piersall (Cedar Rapids), Ainsley and Claudia Herring (Golden Valley); and her husband Jim. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins.

A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church (1224 5th St SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401).

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Minnesota or the Mercy Medical Center Foundation of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
