He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, James Plein and LaVerne Plein (O'Donnell); and his children, Teresa Plein (Jeremy Moser) of Marion and Justin Plein (Rachel) of Prairieburg.

Visitation was held on Sunday, May 12th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service (3855 Katz Dr, Marion, IA 52302). A graveside service was held on Monday, May 13th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Oak Shade Cemetery.
