Lisa K. Stevens Obituary

Stevensville - Lisa K. (Jolley) Stevens, 63, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024 in her home in Stevensville surrounded by her family. She was born on Nov 11, 1960, in Casper, Wyoming, the daughter of Alan and Elma Jolley. She was raised in Billings, Montana and lived there through high school.

Lisa was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission at 21 years of age in the Honduras, Tegucigalpa Mission for 18 months where she learned to speak fluent Spanish and developed an aversion to banana flavored pop. After returning from her mission, she attended college at MSU and ultimately received a master’s degree in education.

While attending college, she rekindled a friendship with a high school friend from Billings, Garth Stevens, and they married on August 23, 1985, in the Logan, Utah Temple. While still in Bozeman, they had their first daughter, Lindsey Kaye. Shortly afterwards, they moved to the Seattle, Washington area, where Garth took a job at Boeing.

While there, the family was joined by Whitney Jane and enjoyed trips to Puget Sound and visiting the tulip fields. In 1993, the family moved back to Montana, this time settling in the Bitterroot Valley. Mickelle Lyn was born in 1995 and two years later, Lisa and Garth were able to design and build their ideal home, all while spending that summer in a 1960s travel trailer with the three girls.

Lisa began substitute teaching in 2001 and transitioned to teaching full-time at Corvallis High School as the Spanish teacher in 2004. She taught there for four years before transferring to Lone Rock Middle School where she taught Spanish and other subjects until 2023. She loved reading throughout her life and strived to bring that love of reading to her students.

While in Honduras, the people struggled to pronounce Jolley and she was dubbed Yoli. When she returned, she kept it as a nickname and then when the grandchildren came along, they simply called her Yoli instead of Grandma. She loved children and adored her four grandkids.

Lisa is preceded in death by her parents, Alan and Elma Jolley and brother Randal Jolley. She is survived by her husband Garth of Stevensville; three daughters, Lindsey of Bountiful, Utah, Whitney and husband James Taylor of Lehi, Utah, and Mickelle and husband Miles Farnsworth of Spokane, Washington; four grandchildren, Noah and Evander Taylor, and Nelson and Eloise Farnsworth, two sisters, Marianne Stoddard and Janet Lloyd, and two brothers, A. Dale Jolley Jr. and Daniel Jolley. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 5:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints in Stevensville.

The funeral service will begin at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, also at the church. Interment will be in Lovell, Wyoming Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10:00 A.M.
