Thompson Funeral Service is a full service family owned business. We provide compassionate, personalized support to families dealing with the challenges that follow the loss of a loved one. At Thompson Funeral Service we feel that the funeral experience should not constitute a financial hardship. That"s why when service arrangements are made we consult with the family to locate the best venue and value available to accommodate the family"s needs and wishes.
Bill was born in Trail, BC April 4, 1965 to Isabel and W. G. (Bill) Clark. Coming from a long line of funeral directors, Bill is a fourth generation funeral director serving the West Kootenays. Bill"s great grandfather William G. Clark, a cabinet maker, established Clark and Binn"s Undertakers in 1898, in Trail, and today Bill Jr. is the managing partner of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services®, Trail.
Bill has a loving partner, Karlie and two sons, Adam and Nathan. He enjoys the outdoors including hunting, motorcycling, golf, skiing and time spent at Christina Lake. Bill has served as President of the Trail Rotary Club, Greater Trail Retirement Housing Society and Christina Sands Estates Society as well as serving on numerous other community boards and clubs.
He is currently Chair of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital and Health Foundation, and a past Director of the Funeral Service Association of BC and Birchbank Golf Course. Megan Johnson relocated from Vancouver in 2011 to join the Thompson Funeral Service family. She is committed to providing the best possible service and support to the families she sees. Ben Williams became interested in Funeral Service while in High School, and a work placement in a funeral home during this time solidified the idea that this is a career worth pursuing for him. Ben did his internship Scarborough, ON and worked in Toronto as a Funeral Director for several years after he obtained his license.
For a short time, Ben was an embalmer for the Canadian Military for our soldiers killed during service in Afghanistan. He also worked overseas in London, England as a Funeral Director and embalmer for 2.5 years. Ben moved to Nelson to work for Thompson Funeral Service in 2012, wanting to get away from the city for a more outdoor oriented lifestyle.
He is an avid snowboarder and likes to get into the back country. Ben enjoys camping, riding his motorcycle, kayaking and most things BC has to offer. He is involved in Nelson"s Blue Night art show, and uses the Funeral Home to subsidize local artists and musicians. He also is involved in volunteering for Shambhala Music Festival.
