He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sutherland and Myrtle Sutherland. He is survived by: his wife Carol Sutherland of Airdrie, AB; his daughters, Lori (Clint Peredery), Leanne (Gordon Morter) and Lynnae (Glenn Miller); his grandchildren, Joel, Alana (Lukas), Mikhaila (Jordan), Kenton (Alyson), Daniel, Ryan (Paige), Sarah (Sawyer), Raelle and Kendra; and his great grandchild Hazel. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, a niece, a nephew, their extended families, and numerous cousins.

Additional memorial trees will be planted through Canadian conservation and reforestation initiatives, as a result of memorial contributions.
