He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley; and his parents, Beatrice and Humphrey. He is survived by: his son Rick (Kitty); his grandsons, Adam and Eric; his son Alan (Colette); his grandchildren, Alicia (Rick), Greg (Jenny), Kyle (Sara), Geoffrey and Hilary (Michael); his son Jim (Pat); his grandchildren, Daniel and Ashley; his great grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Noah, Faith, Hailey, Grayson, Allyson, Keith, Savannah and Elias; and his great great grandchildren, Emmet and Kinsley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alix Wagon Wheel Museum or the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation.
