He was predeceased by: his wife Ann; his daughter Deborah; his grandson Aaron; his parents, John and Katie; and his siblings, Stanley and Helen.

He is survived by: his children, Gloria Lechky (Bill), Ailien Holdis (Jerry Derko), Barry Semashkewich (Carol), Robert Semashkewich (Cheryl) and Lewis Semashkewich (Penny); his son-in-law David Fehr; his grandchildren, Travis (Wanda), Trevor (Erin), Tyler (Leslie), Scott (Carrie), Shawn, Kurt (Candace), Kristy, Derek (Alanna) and John (Taralee); his sisters, Mary Szmyrko (Peter), Elsie Shmyrko and Josie Hlushak (Ed); and his sister-in-law Olga Semashkewich. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
