The memory of Julius Katona Jr. of Athabasca, Alberta, who passed away on February 28, 2026 at the age of 96, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Sr. (Michael Burger) and Elizabeth; his siblings, William, Joe and Mary; his siblings-in-law, Paul Chorzempa, Harold Kondro, Jim Koons, Fred Martin, Marge Chorzempa, Ethel Kondro and Normetta Katona; his nephews, Rob Koons, Dean, Alan and Richard Chorzempa; his granddaughter Vicki Makin; and his great-niece Madison Kondro.
He is survived by: his wife Edith; his children, Kurtis (Margaret), Wayne (Laverne), Bruce (Sheena) and Dalon (Leah); his grandchildren, Kyle (Maddie), Trent (Stephanie), Kelly (Rory), Leanne (Darcy), Tiffany (Allan), Erin (Trevor) and Kora; his siblings, Elsie, Margaret (Clarence) and Albert; and his sister-in-law Dee. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Athabasca Missionary Church (4008 50 Ave, Athabasca, AB T9S1M2).
