She was predeceased by: her husband Carl; her daughter Ursula "Sue"; her son-in-law Dennis West; her parents, Lambert Melchers and Anna Melchers; and her sister Hildegard Cadel.

She is survived by: her sons, Norbert (Maureen) and Raymond (Debra); and her sister Margaret Weber. She is also survived by extended family and friends.

Memorial donations in memory of Helmi may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
