He was predeceased by: his wife Violet Blackburn; his parents, August Knodel and Karoline Knodel; his parents-in-law, Alice and Barnabus Blackburn; and his siblings, Herbert, Milbert, Martha, Meta, Ida and Hertha. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
