He was predeceased by : his wife Josephina (Jose); and his siblings, Agnes, Matt, Joe, Thomas and Peter.

He is survived by : his children, Lillian Merlin (Chris), Marcel Stemkens (Patty) and Sarah Zottl (Christopher); his grandchildren, Eric Smith, Soraya Timmerman, Corin, Austin Merlin, Maxwell, Zakary Stemkens, Joshua and Raegan Zottl; his great grandchildren, Xavier, Wyatt Smith, Hunter, Zoe and Jaxon Timmerman; and his sisters, Mia and Toos.
