We are sad to announce that on February 19, 2018 we had to say goodbye to Allan Oates (Calgary, Alberta). You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Oates; his daughters, Terri-Lee Shykula (Mark) and Corri-Lynn Deitsch (Brad); his grandchildren, Nicholas Shykula, Adam Shykula, Braedan Deitsch and Kayci Deitsch; and his siblings, Doug Oates, Debbie Tannas (Ray), Penny Vukelich (Steve), Cyndy Mork (Kurt), Melody Drescher, Candice Oates and Leslee Madge (Al). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made directly to support The Division of General Internal Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary.

“Al was more than family. He was a pariah. The definition of the strength and willpower it takes to stand up for what’s right; In spite that inevitably it will not be easy and that assuredly, it will not be popular. Even though we have to stand alone sometimes, my grandpa never let that stop him from standing with those that depended on him in the face of personal suffering. A modern day apostle in his own right. He taught me more than the word cap here can reflect. Called for greater things.”
