Deborah Nicholas wrote a sympathy message

“I am so sad tonight. I worked with Barney back in 1969 to 1976 and learned so much from him while working at CPP. I was right out of high school and he and a few other seasoned CPP employees took me under their wings. My favorite saying of Barney's is "I don't make the snowballs, I just throw 'em". I recently moved back to Calgary after an absence of 27 years and hoped to connect with my old friend but was 10 months too late. He made my life better being a part of it and I'll never forget him!”
