He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ethel Haynes and Kermit Haynes; his wife Carrie Haynes; his children, Nathan Haynes (Dorota Stefanowicz) and Renae Espey (Craig Espey); and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Sean, Helena and Masza.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to a local arts foundation or community program in his honour.
