Dean Boucher Obituary

Dean Morgan Boucher passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 71 years.

He was born on June 30, 1953, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. He moved to Swan River, MB, Wynyard, SK, Tisdale, SK, Melfort, SK, and Bjorkdale, SK, before finally making Calgary his home for the last 50 years.

Dean was a highly intelligent man who dedicated most of his career as a sales manager at Old Dutch Potato Chips, where the staff fondly referred to him as Mr. Old Dutch. He went on to become a successful businessman and entrepreneur in various industries. He was a natural athlete, enjoying boxing and hockey the most.

He was most proud of his son Alain, who grew up to become a gifted athlete, an amazing son, a loyal friend, and a dedicated father to his two sons. Unfortunately, Alain's life was cut short nearly a decade ago, due to a tragic accident.

Dean had an infectious energy about him, that followed him everywhere he went. He had many passions, his favourites were music, hockey, and fast cars, but he also enjoyed boxing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his friends and family.

He had a quirky sense of humour that knew no bounds—no one was ever truly exempt. There was no problem he couldn't solve, and no rule he wouldn't bend if it meant doing the right thing. Kind and generous by nature, he gave of himself freely whenever asked, never expecting anything in return. Some described him as a bit of a vigilante, fiercely dedicated to protecting the vulnerable. He spent many years championing the less fortunate, often seen volunteering at the church or helping to feed the homeless. Over the years, he became widely regarded as a local legend in Calgary, known for his unwavering commitment to helping those in need as well as having numerous interactions with the Calgary Police Service.

He is survived by his life partner, Gina Lynn Sterkenburg of Calgary, AB; his ex-wife and the mother of his son, Anita; and his stepmother, Beryl Breed.

Dean will be missed by his siblings, Dalles Kracher McGowan (Lyle McGowan), Darvis Boucher (Judy Boucher), Darcel Boucher, Danelle Guillemette, Darcene Stabler (Brian Minto), Darlynne Boucher Melin, Darina Boucher Deforest (Melvin Deforest), and Darwyn Boucher (Ashlee Boucher); his nephews, Michael Kracher, Mathew Boucher, Dax Boucher, Dion Stephens, Shawn Stephens, Catlyn Melin, and Aiden Boucher; and his nieces, Shaunda Kracher, Vanessa Puryk, Shyla Stephens, Belle Halliday-Rose Gagnon, Jessica Molnar, Kathryn East, Danae (Boucher) Bain, Monique Boucher, Janae Boucher, Jaelynn Deforest, and Lillith Boucher.

Dean was predeceased by his grandparents, Atharde Lesperance Boucher and Eva (Lilley) Boucher; his parents, Leona Boucher, Harry Breed; and his son, Alain Boucher.
