He was predeceased by: his wife Ida Fried; his sisters, Nelly Fried and Melina Fried; and his siblings-in-law, Minnie Jobs, George, Robert, Helmut, Ewald Abel and Edward Jobs.

He is survived by: his children, Earl Fried of Calgary, AB and Ingrid Morrison (Brian) of Cochrane, AB.; his grandchildren, Brent Morrison (Erin) of Calgary, AB., Cory Morrison of Calgary, AB., Katie Evans of Calgary, AB. and Ashleigh Lacatus (Tudor) of Calgary, AB.; his sisters, Minna Leicht of Calgary, AB and Agathe Seiler of Hamburg; and his siblings-in-law, Albert Abel (Mathilda), Penny, Hilda, Christel Abel and Karyn Lehmann.
