He was predeceased by: his brother Philip; his parents, Gordon Arendt and Dorothy Arendt (Kokott); and his in-laws, Dick and Vera Varley (Hughes).

He is survived by: his wife Marillyn Arendt (Varley); his daughters, Erica Murphy (Ciaran) and Amanda Donovan (Michael); his grandchildren, Dubhlainn and Aiobhe; his siblings, Donald (Lynda), Allan (Angela) and Anne; and his sister-in-law Marilyn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
