He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Babienko and Mary Babienko; his sister Tania; and his daughter-in-law Nancy. He is survived by: his wife Diane; his sons, Jeff and Mark; his daughter-in-law Megan; and his grandchildren, Teo, Annika, Max and Mary.
In 1996, his service to the industry was recognized with the Calgary Construction Association's Ted Walden Award, an honour reserved for individuals of particular distinction for their contributions to the industry and the CCA.
