He was predeceased by: his parents, Kyosei Kohashigawa and Miyo Kohashigawa; his wife Lillian Oka; his siblings, Yoshiko Higa (George), Amie Kohashigawa, Shizuko Hironaka (Robert), Lily Ohara (Mori), Sakae Kohashigawa, Shigeru Kohashigawa, David Kogawa and Eddie Kohashigawa; and his sister-in-law Jean Kogawa.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sandra King (Don) and Wanda Michaels (Darryn); his grandchildren, Monica Michaels (Joe), Ian King (Lauren), Dylan Michaels, Marissa Michaels, Eric King (Raquel), Jamie King (Devonie), Dustin Michaels and Daniel King (Alexsana); his great grandchildren, Lucas Nelner, Jace Nelner, Mya Nelner, Ben Nelner, Lillie King, Brielle King and Conroy King; his brother George Kogawa; and his sister-in-law Joy Kogawa. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family members, and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Harvest Hills Alliance Church (10099 Harvest Hills Blvd N, Calgary, AB T3K4W9).
Additional memorial trees will be planted through Canadian conservation and reforestation initiatives as a result of memorial contributions.
