He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil and Luise; and his brother Emil (Hedi). He is survived by: his wife Lieselotte Schelb (Lisa); his children, Gabriele (Denis) and Oliver (Janice); his grandchildren, Louise Schafer (Rob) and Michael Schafer (Janine); his great grandchildren, Kade, Deklin Bowers, Spencer and Noah Schafer; and his sister Erika Matt (late Gerhard). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mountain View Funeral Home (Arbor Chapel) (1605 100 St SE, Calgary, AB T2P2G7). A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Mountain View Cemetery (1605 100 St SE, Calgary, AB T2P2G7). A reception was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Mountain View Funeral Home (Arbor Lounge) (1605 100 St SE, Calgary, AB T2P2G7).
