She was predeceased by: her husband Bill; her daughter Sherry; and her brothers, Frank and Victor Halase. She is survived by: her son John Szarka; her granddaughter Elisha Markle (Jonas Peterson); and her great grandchildren, Skyler, Blake and Gracie Peterson.
Additional memorial trees will be planted through Canadian conservation and reforestation initiatives, as a result of memorial contributions.
