He was predeceased by : his significant other Anne Doerksen (Wiens); his parents, Peter Doerksen and Katherina Doerksen; his siblings, Peter Doerksen and Annie Peters; his parents-in-law, Henry Peters, Herb Klassen, Ted Kinash, John, Irene Wiens, Mary, Arley Harder, George Wiens and Arnin Dirks; his daughter-in-law Donna Doerksen; and his great grandchild Madison Rose Doerksen.

He is survived by : his children, Ken (Sharon), Arno (Wanda), Cheryl Hildebrand (John), Gerry and Tim (Yvonne). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and seven spouses, 14 great grandchildren, Jake's remaining siblings.

James Zachary wrote a sympathy message

“I am so sorry for passing of Jake. However I am celebrating because he will be in the presence of our LORD JESUS and with his lovely wife. I have had very enjoyable times with visiting the Doerksons at Strathmore Alliance Church and became a assistant of his at the Sacred Heart Nursing home during service times. Jake and Anne always invited us my wife and I to pie at there complex and ride his scooter around the apartment. Really too tiny for this. We laughed and sang praises. It was wonderful.”
