He is survived by: his wife Evelyn of St. Albert; his daughters, Jackie Groot of Calgary and Lisa Lee (Robert) of Spruce Grove; his grandchildren, Nicole Achtymichuk of Calgary and Alex Achtymichuk of Calgary; his sister Elizabeth Ponich (Gary) of Sammamish; his sisters-in-law, Sandy, Geri and Patricia; and his nephews, Jeff (Marion), Ben, Erik (Catha), Tim, Chris, Michael and Robert.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society or Alberta SPCA.
