We announce the death of Joan Aileen Traviss of Calgary, Alberta, born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, who passed away on October 13, 2026, at the age of 89. Joan will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Joan will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Joan will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Joan’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Onagh Hoeght and Louis Hoeght; her brother Jim; and her husband Jerry. She is survived by: her daughter Susan Jane; her brother David Hoeght (Judy); and her sister-in-law Sharon Hoeght. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Chapel of the Bell in Main Chapel (2720 Centre St N, Calgary, AB T2E2V6).
Additional memorial trees will be planted through Canadian conservation and reforestation initiatives, as a result of memorial contributions.
