He was predeceased by: his sister Linda MacDonald. He is survived by: his wife Loree; his daughters, Sophie and Sarah Jean (SJ); and his sisters, Lauren MacDonald of Manitoulin Island and Ann MacDonald of Cobourg, Ontario..

In lieu of flowers, John wished for donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
