She is survived by: her son James (Heather); her grandchildren, Nathan, Chantal, Madison and Alana; her great grandchild Sophia; her sisters, Gail, Sandy and Lyn; her nieces, Margaret, Chelsea, Anick, Carolyn and Susan; her nephew Stephane; and her pet Gizmo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Diabetes Foundation, a cause that was close to Karen's heart.
