He was predeceased by: his parents, Opanin Francis Kwadwo Mprah and Obaapanin Elizabeth Manu. He is survived by: his significant other Juliana Mansa Kwaku; and his children, Sandra Akweenda (Holland), Deborah Akweenda, Cliff Akweenda (Montreal) and Sonia Akweenda (Calgary). He is also survived by four grandchildren.
