He was predeceased by: his wife Jean Chitrenky; his sister Virginia Clarke (Harris); and also, John Chitrenky (Alice), Harry Chitrenky, Paul Chitrenky and Walter Chitrenky (Evelyn).

He is survived by: his parents, Alex Chitrenky and Maria Chitrenky; his daughters, Anne Donahue (Dale Lyster) of Stettler and Pauline Auld (David Quon) of Calgary; his grandchildren, Sean Donahue (Jean) of Stettler, Robert Auld (Michelle) of Calgary and David Auld of Vancouver; his great grandchildren, Michael Donahue (Damera), Shea Donahue, Ella Auld and Baylee Gilpin; his sisters-in-law, Marian Chitrenky of Calgary and Joan Bateup; his nieces, Suzanne Bateup and Jane Bateup; and also, Surrey and England. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews in both Canada and England; many former students, dear colleagues and friends.
