He was predeceased by: his son Darrell; his siblings, Helen Olson (Gulfred), Mae Lima (Fannuel) and Alfred Gjesdal; and his siblings-in-law, Carmen Borelli, Albert Bourcier, Helen Hammond and John Hammond.

He is survived by: his wife Marie Gjesdal of Calgary; his son Barrie (Patti) of Calgary; his siblings, Alice Bourcier, Eileen Borelli, Betty Tyndall (Wayne) and Eldon Gjesdal (Marjorie); and his siblings-in-law, Amy Gjesdal, Isabel, Ted Schurman and Joyce Whitbred. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
