He was predeceased by: his parents, Léo and Thérèse; and his brother Marc. He is survived by: his close friend Susan Greenfield; his child Chris Rose (Stephen); and his siblings, René (Barbara), Roger (Vivian), Lucille Ferguson (Brock) and Claude. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Memorial donations in memory of Réal can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
