It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Ólafur Thorarinson (Calgary, Alberta), born in Riverton, Manitoba, who passed away on October 20, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Larus Thorarinson and Marion Thorarinson. He is survived by: his brothers, Larus, Eugene, Verne, John (Debbie) and Douglas Thorarinson; and his siblings' children, Steina Thorarinson and Joel Thorarinson.

“My sincerest condolences to the Thorarinson's, spouses and families on the passing of Richard. I liked Richard. He had a kind heart with a very welcoming persona about him. I still remember going on Sunday rides in his Green I Ambassador (?) with their Mom, Doug, Johnny and maybe someone else. Also playing a bit of soccer with Richard Johnny and Doug as they had goalposts at the L & Motel in Midnapore. We, the four of us, Richard, Doug, Johnny and I had a hockey league that we played downstairs.”
