Sophia Yiannakoulia Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sophia Yiannakoulia of Calgary, Alberta, who passed away on January 24, 2021, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Nikolaos Yiannakoulias and Dimitra Yiannakoulia; and her son Nikolaos Zygopoulos. She is survived by: her children, Eleftheria Koutsoumpos (Argyrios), Xenia Frizell (Robert) and Georgios Zigopoulos (Kelsey); and her grandchildren, Eleni (Anthony), Pandelis, Sophia, Natalia, Alyssa and Nikolaos.
Eventually, Sophia's illness led her to move to a care facility where she would catch COVID at the end of December. With her worsening condition, eventually she was transferred to Rockyview hospital where she would pass away from COVID pneumonia, taking her last breath with her three children by her side.
