She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Lloyd McCaig and Francoise Cousineau; her brother David McCaig; her close friend Elizabeth Umphrey; and her nephew John D. R. Ferguson.

She is survived by: her daughter Melissa Ballantyne (Chris); her grandchildren, Hayden and Alexandria; her siblings, Betty Dolan, Denise McCaig, Robert McCaig (Jane), Nancy Ferguson, Michel McCaig and Richard McCaig; and her nieces and nephews, Ryan Martin, Jennifer Tetzlaff (Jeff), Kristin McCaig, Ryan McCullough, Jes McCullough, Mercedes Baylis (Tristin), Arlen McCullough and Daniel Ferguson.
