He was predeceased by: his former wife Janice Rae Benson (Jenkins); and his sons, Lance Dean Benson and Ian Merrick. He is survived by: his wife Connie Merrick of Calgary Alberta; his children, Lindi Speager (Doug) of Grande Prairie, Lonna Crosta of Phoenix, Colin Merrick (Nathaly Carmichael) of Calgary, Alberta., Wayne and Jan; and his friend Connie Merrick. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
