He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Nielsen and Mary Nielsen; his siblings, Elvin Nielsen (Jean) of Calgary, Ron Nielsen (Diana) of Dawson Creek, Dorethy Nielsen, Tina Stafford (Ray) of Brooks and Pauline Miller (Bob) of Okotoks; and his nephews, Tom and Norm Stafford of Brooks.

He is survived by: his sibling's children, George, Edward Stafford, Ervie, Brian, Dennis Miller, Linda Larson, Donna Nielsen, Shirley Waite, Mike Carlie, Andrew Goudey and Shawna Miller; and his uncle Dave.

A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home (Prairie View Chapel, 1605 100 Street SE, Calgary) on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. If so desired, donations in Dave's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.ca).
