He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Toews and Mary Toews; and his brothers, Albert, Irvin and Ron.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Toews of Calgary; his children, Joyce (Rick), Brian, Jim (Penny), Kathy (Dave), Daniel, Amy, Tanya, Derek, Roxanne, Jade, Carson, Nixon, Hailee, Morgan, Kelton, Landon, Kierra and Kamilla; and also Jennifer. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.
