“With the calgary fire department, but i did on several occasions end up driving a tandem axle truck. And i never had an accident driving a truck... Also, i apologize for the late response. I wasn't aware that elbert had passed away until recently. I had talked recently with my sister ykje about our family history and i was thinking of my dad earlier today, which made me think of your dad.”

“from farming for the day to help me take the test. She looked at me and said "Do you know how to drive the grain truck?" to which confidently I answered "Yes!". She said, "Okay, I'll just give you a pass on your class 3" which made me very happy but your dad was again upset because it wasn't the right way to do things. After I pleaded with him to let it go, he agreed and said in frustration to the examiner "I should have brought all my children in today!" In the end, I didn't get the job”

“and we spent the morning driving around. I knew how to drive standard, but he taught me how to shift gears using high/low split. We showed up at Strathmore at 1 PM to take the exam. The examiner was out with one other person so we had to wait but when she got back, she said she didn't have time to do another road test because she had some personal commitment later that afternoon. Your dad was upset because she was supposed to work until 4 PM that day and he told her how he took time away”

“Daryll and family, please accept my condolences on the passing of your father, grand father and great grand father. I know that he was best friends with my dad for many years. My fondest memory of your dad was when i was in my early twenties (about 35 years ago!) and i wanted to apply to the calgary fire department, but i needed my class 3 drivers license. My dad and your dad arranged it so i could learn on a grain truck and take my exam in strathmore. I met your dad at the farm at about 8 am”
