Fred Shaigec Obituary
We announce the death of Fred Shaigec (Carvel, Alberta), who passed away on October 15, 2026, at the age of 98. Fred will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his siblings, Bill Shiagetz (Dorothy), Peter Shaigec (Joyce), Ely Shaigec (Janet), Stanley Shaigec, Michael Shaigec, Anne Askin (Stan) and Mary Krys (Jack); and his children-in-law, Nigel Robertson and Julie Hanson.
He is survived by: his wife Helen; his children, Russell Shaigec (Michelle), Lorrie Jackson (Daryl), Rod Shaigec, Ollie Shaigec, Sylvia Shaigec and Terry Shaigec; his grandchildren, Sarah Jackson, Jared Shaigec, Ross Jackson, Jamie Shaigec (Rhyce), Steffen Shaigec (Paige), Anna-Marie Robertson, Patrick O'Neill, Catherine Jackson, Joyelle Shaigec, Jasmine Johnson (Mike) and Elliot Smith; his great grandchildren, Eden Schmunk and Jantelle Wilson-Johnson; and his brothers, Harry Shaigec (Adeline) and Nick Shaigec (Joyce). He is also survived by his family, friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in honour of Fred Shaigec.
