Vern Sydney was predeceased by: son-in-law Scott Dalrymple; parents, Douglas Carstairs and Marjorie Carstairs; brother Barry Carstairs; and nephew Troy Carstairs.

Vern Sydney is survived by: wife Diane; son Landon (Kaitlin); grandchildren, Ryder and Kiahna; daughter Leah (Travis); and grandchildren, Harley, Ryah and Blair.
