He is survived by : his wife Pauline; his daughter Lindsey (Dustin Bensmiller); his grandchildren, Luke and Mallie; his siblings, Phil Dunn (Cathy) and Mary Colclough (Beauchamp); his nieces, Sarah and Denille; his mother-in-law Lillian Smithinsky; his sister-in-law Joyce Mathers (Dave); his niece Jordana; and his close friends, David and Betty Mae MacLean.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 9th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the MacKenzie Conference Centre (5737 45 Ave, Drayton Valley, AB T7A0B6).

In lieu of flowers a memorial donation can be made in Ian's name to the Palliative Care Suite Project at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre.
