Richard Cammidge Obituary

At Rick's request, no funeral service will be held.

Rick Cammidge passed away at home surrounded by his entire family on September 24, 2023 after a battle with esophageal cancer. He was born December 4, 1967 in Stettler, Alberta to Doug and Jean (Hunter) Cammidge and was the oldest of three children.

He will be remembered by his mom Jean, younger sister Cheryl Rolfes (Shane Woods), his youngest sister Keltie Wolney (Murray), his nieces Teylor Rolfes (Kyle Kearns), Jordyn Matthews (Robbie), his nephews Rex Wolney, Levi Wolney (Jorja) and great nephew Karver Kearns, and numerous aunts, cousins, and uncle. Rick was predeceased by his father Doug Cammidge and brother-in-law Darrell Rolfes. He had many solid friends he considered brothers and sisters (you know who you are).

In his youth, Rick was a natural athlete involved in all sports, especially hockey where he excelled. His favourite team was the Habs, and he was an avid fan. He loved rock and roll music (Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Kiss), watching sports on TV (the Dallas Cowboys and the Toronto Blue Jays along with his beloved Habs), and crossword puzzles.

Rick loved Jesus with his whole heart and read. His word 'til the very end of his life. He was a hard worker, truck driving and steaming for Tracker Steam and finally Foothills Energy where he was affectionately known as "Tricky Ricky". He loved life and always said "he had way too much fun and zero regrets.". He was a kind and gentle soul who had a good sense of humour, a smile on his face and was the most undiscovered rock star in the world.

Rick will be laid to rest in Eckville. At his request, there will be no funeral service and cremation has taken place.

Those wishing may make donations in memory of Rick to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Lisa Lee wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Jean and Family, So sorry to hear of Rick's passing. So sorry. Shocked is an understatement. He was always unapologetically himself and his genuine heart will be missed by all those who got to know him. He had a gift of communication and always made those around him feel special. I will miss his yearly phone calls and our deep discussions about life. God's love and peace to you, Jean. My prayers are with you. Know he is dancing and laughing in Heaven. Miss you, Rick! Lisa Lee (Remillard)”

Jenn Carde wrote a sympathy message

“I am so sorry to hear that Rick passed. We kept in touch all through the years and I will miss those random phone calls and him texting me with a song title, followed by 3 2 1... (which meant we would both listen to the song at the same time). He was one of a kind - all heart & rock n roll! My condolences to all the family. I hope you keep replaying all those fun and positive memories that you were so lucky to have with him. Love, Jenn Gatien”
