He was predeceased by: his parents, Jan Jacob and Margaretha Lamaitre; his brother Cornelius; and his former wife Maryann. He is survived by: his wife Dorinda Stonehouse; his son Sheldon Lamaitre (Morene); his stepchildren, Corinne Powelske (Keith) and George Stonehouse (Cheryl); his grandchildren, Bailey Lamaitre, Josie Jensen, Brett Jensen, Carly Powelske (Vincent Hwang), Kristie Powelske and Tia Stonehouse; his great grandchildren, Brixton and Walker Hwang; his sister Cathy Lamaitre; and his siblings-in-law, Darrel Joy (Tammy), Roberta Helsher and Karen Joy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
