She was predeceased by: her parents, George and Orma Hanes (Harold); her husband Edward; her daughter Darlene Stang; her brother Bob Hanes; and her stepgrandchildren, Shawn and Shayne.
She is survived by: her children, Shelley Stang, Wendy Kapty (Ross), Mark (Tracy) and Corey (Connie); her stepchildren, Lillian Rodgers (Neil), Rick Stang (Leona) and John Stang; her grandchildren, Kristen (Ryan), Connor (MacKenzie), Chad, Shaina, Shawn and Alexis; and her siblings, Sandy Hartley (Ron) and Marilyn Moos (Bob). She is also survived by many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, foster children, extended family, and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery (16204 Fort Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T5Y6A2). A reception will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Evergreen Funeral Home (16204 Fort Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T5Y6A2).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's name may be made to the Diabetes Association, Youth Empowerment & Support Service, or the Edmonton Humane Society.
