He is survived by: his wife Norma; his daughter Trisha Lemke (Hilmar); his daughter-in-law Marcie Gitzel; his grandchildren, Jessica Gitzel, Joel Gitzel, Joshua Gitzel, Anna Lemke and Katja Lemke; his siblings, Clarence Gitzel (Maureen), Irene Gardner, Stan Gitzel (Joan) and Carol Lindskoog (Brian); and his sister-in-law Naomi Gitzel. He is also survived by extended family members and many friends.
