She was predeceased by: her parents, Elsie and John Orton. She is survived by: her close friend Mark; her daughter Jane; her grandchildren, Jovi and Vincent; her cousins, Debbie and Glenda; her friend Louise; Janis. She is also survived by extended family and life-long friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Denise's name may be made to the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE).
