She was predeceased by: her husband Jose Barbosa; and her parents, Jose and Ursula. She is survived by: her children, Jose Manuel DeSousa (Assunta), Leonor Rites, John DeSousa, Natalia Janes (Paul), Jaime DeSousa, Jeff DeSousa (Chantel) and Valdmar DeSousa; her grandchildren, Robert, Nelson, Gabriel (Michelle), Melissa, Amanda, Ashley (Kyle), Virginia, Sean, Diana, Caterina, Monique, Cassie, Sarah and Nicholas; and her brother Walter Grilo (Lucy). She is also survived by twenty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
