It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Frances (McCarthy) Coughlan (Edmonton, Alberta), who passed away on November 27, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Michael Xavier Coughlan (Dave); and her siblings, Maura, Peg, Sr., Concepta (Jo), Charlie, Con, Nora, Kathleen, Patty, Dan, Tim and Teresa.

She is survived by: her children, Helga Shield (Dan), Frank (Gina), Jonathan (Josie) and Monica Anderson (David); her grandchildren, Georgia, Ella, Patrick, Avena, Xavier, Connel, Thomas, Rhys, Henry and Murphie; and her stepgrandchildren, Ryan and Blake.

She gave up paid work in 2009 but didn't rest—she became a tireless volunteer at the General Hospital, where she faithfully served the elderly until COVID regulations forced her to stop.
