He was predeceased by : his wife Evmarie. He is survived by : his children, Dietmar (Roberta) and Elke (Wade); and his granddaughters, Inka and Astrid. He is also survived by seven brothers.

In lieu of flowers the family ask donations can be made in Gerhard's name to either the Arthritis Society or Parkinson Canada.
