He was predeceased by: his parents, Sjoerd Velthuis-Kroeze and Classina Velthuis-Kroeze; his significant other Joanne; his sister Alice Woudsma; his brothers-in-law, John Woudsma, Jack De Groot, Bob Korthuis, Bill De Boer and Dick De Boer; his niece Cathy Schultz; his nephew Henry Korthuis; and his grandson Zachary Kotchey.

He is survived by: his children, Bev Mackie, Margaret Kotchey, Stuart Velthuis-Kroeze, Donna Kada and Dennis Velthuis-Kroeze; and his grandchildren, Kayla Velthuis-Kroeze, Brett Velthuis-Kroeze and Adam Kotchey.
