He was predeceased by: his great-grandparent Jakob Peter Helbig (Jack); his parents, Peter Helbig and Elisabeth Helbig; and his sister Susanna. He is survived by: his wife Gerlinde (Linda); his children, Irene, Jeff Breitkreutz, David and Manuela Helbig; his sisters, Waltraut (Trudy) and Elfriede Helbig; his grandchildren, Ashleigh, Mike Pollock, Amber, Christa Laska, Alicia, Luke Trottier, Ryan Breitkreutz (Alyssa Deans), Morgan Breitkreutz, Brooklynne Helbig (Robert Fernandez), Zachary, Jennifer Helbig and Kristen Helbig; and his great grandchild Oakley Laska. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, and special friends.
